Description
The tobacco box is a container designed to store chopped tobacco leaves, which was used among government officials and the upper class. This tobacco box is elaborately decorated with designs such as seven treasures, the Chinese character for 壽 (longevity), and ten longevity symbols in silver inlay, where the designs were engraved into the surface using thin, thread-like strips of silver. This artifact illustrates exuberance of the metal craft in the Joseon Dynasty.
