Description
The dragon and phoenix are symbols of the royal family, therefore, only members of the royal family were allowed to wear those patterns. However, ordinary women were allowed to use hairpins with a dragon design on their wedding day and on other special occasions. In this piece, the dragon looks very dynamic with its twisted neck, its jaw clutching a cintamani, and its bright blue eyes. This particular piece is of the highest quality and was used at the royal court.
