Noh Sang Kyoon continues to use sequins in his work on both flat and three-dimensional surfaces. When applied to a figure of the Buddha, sequins transform its nature as a religious symbol and object of solemnity into a worldly commodity. Noh’s Buddha, reborn in a different shape and hiding the properties and material of the original object, allows sacred religious meaning and the commercial and secular world to coexist.
