Details
Oh Sookhwan participated in the movement to establish a new Korean ink-and-wash painting style in the 1980s and presented works which focus on new interpretations of traditional ink-and-wash painting and the medium's contemporary features. Oh believes that an ink stick is the most appropriate material to express a sense of space using darkness and depth. The deep color of the ink and the white space convey the reflection of light, and the permeating and spreading effect made when the ink touches paper expresses space.
