Details
This is a children’s overcoat as a part of traditional Korean attire. It is also referred to as a “five-colored overcoat” due to its use of five-color fabric in the front and back of body, overlapping column on the front, sleeves, and underarm gussets. In some cases, multi-colored patchwork was also used for the sleeves, and the overlapping section of the coat was made by sewing up triangular patches of fabric in diverse colors. The collar and sleeves of the coat were often embroidered with tiny flower designs. The scarlet collar and ribbons show that this coat was worn by a girl, around a year old.
