Oh Yun, who was interested in the social role of art, studied Korean traditional popular culture such as folk paintings, shamanic paintings, Buddhist paintings, talchum (masked dance), and gut (Korean shamanic rite), and devoted himself to sublimate them into national art. In the 1980s, in particular, Oh focused on woodblock printing and played a leading role in the promotion of Korean printing and public art. His prints simply depict the dynamic movements of people, and raised the medium of folk woodcutting to the broader realm of national art and culture.
