Lee Yu-tae (1916~1999), along with Kim Gi-chang, learned painting at Nakcheongheon, a painting school run by Kim Eun-ho. He focused on a delicate and realistic coloring method of painting, and produced a host of works portraying the real landscapes of Korea. This painting features the painter’s unique style, exemplified by the sharp mountaintops rising above a sea of clouds in the distance, along with pine trees in a diagonal line in a close-range view creating a mood of grandeur.
