After returning from his studies in Japan in the late 1920s, Kim Eun-ho (1892~1979) was the leader in modern art circles for his refined techniques and decorative aesthetic sense in color paintings. Images, like the one displayed above, of women portrayed indoors was a classical motif; the figure of a modest bride most likely conjured up images of a good wife. Even after the liberation, Kim Eun-ho continued to work with these similar themes in his paintings.
