Details
Ahn jung-sik (1861~1919) was a court painter with Jo Seok-Jin, a professor at Seohwa Misulhoe, and he was the first president of Seohwa Association. This landscape was drawn in Simjeon’s latter years and represents the stylistic compromise between Bukjong and Namjong Schools: it employs the techniques of Bukjong School such as Bubyeokjun, which uses axe-cut texture strokes, and Cheongtaejeom, in which moss-shaped spots are applied; its ground is shaded in light blue and using the gradation technique; it also adopts the coarse techniques of Namjong School.
