Details
People used reading tables, introduced from China along with Buddhism, in temples when reading scriptures, but in the late Joseon dynasty, the tables were also made as desks for upper class. This reading table is assumed to have been used at the royal court as it is lacquered in red, which was banned from being used in private houses. The carvings are especially splendid.
