Details
Wonsam was a ceremonial robe worn by royal and noble women. Its color and decorative patterns varied according to the wearer's status. Green wonsam was worn by princesses, court ladies, noble women, and ordinary people were allowed to wear it as wedding clothes.
The outer fabric of the wonsam is green silk with peach, pomegranate, and fingered citron motifs. Each end of the sleeves is decorated with two stripes, red and yellow, and an additional white fabric piece. Decorated with the gilt letters wishing for longevity and good fortune and with gold phoenix insignia badges embroidered on the front and back, this wonsam is likely to have been worn by a member of the royal family.
