This painting portrays the scene of a banquet held on Yoji Pond at Kulun Mountain, an imaginary place where Xiwangmu, the Queen Mother of the West, believed it to live. The Taoist saints, descending from the sky and crossing the Weak River, are composed in the midst of fierce waves and raging wind. Depicted in the center of the paper, each of the Eight Immortals is carrying objects the symbolize wealth, health, success, longevity and other human aspirations.
