Details
While taking an active part in the Joseon Art Exhibition, Kim In Soong adopted the impressionist techniques introduced from Japan and combined them with the elements of classicism that pursued the harmonious and stable composition of a painting in order to pave the way for a model of academism in the Korean modern art world. Kim produced a number of portraits that reflected the imaged of modern women particiating in studious activities such as reading or painting. He portrayed his subjects sitting in rooms furnished with Western-style furniture and decorations as shown in this picture, At the Atelier.
