By applying Eastern painting materials to a Western style of expression, Lee Wal Chong introduces a new trend of Korean paintings that destroy borders between genres. His Moderation in Jeju series, which stems from the Buddhist philosophy of the middle way, teaches that everything in the world is equal, and visualizes an ideal world where dreams and reality harmonize through paintings which combine tradition and modernism.
