Description
Jang (cabinet), the main piece of furniture placed in the anbang or the women’s quarters, was used to store clothing, fabric, socks, etc. Unlike nong, each section of the cabinet is not detached. According to use and size of the stored items, a cabinet is one-, two-, or three-tiered. Hinged doors are fixed on each section and in some cases drawers are included. The interior is divided into compartments to store clothing. Depending on use, there are various cabinets including, uigeorijang (wardrobe), beoseonjang (cabinet for socks), and ibuljang (cabinet for blankets).
